Felix the Cat intruded on WDSU News at 4 in a big way Thursday.
Every day during one of the weather segments we show a viewer photo from a certain area and talk about the weather there. Well, Felix the Cat from Metairie appeared on the screen in front of me and I instantly thought of the old cartoon.
What shocked me was neither Chief Meteorologist Margaret Orr or my co-anchor Camille Whitworth knew what I was talking about. So I had to educate them.
Upon further investigation, I found that Felix the Cat is pretty big on the internets — making it even more shocking that my co-workers didn’t remember him. I mean he has his own website and Facebook page! On top of all that, Felix participated in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade last month and rang the opening bell at the New York Stock exchange the day before the parade.
