Grand Isle: Oil Spill Anniversary Coverage

Grand Isle, LA – We’re set up at the Bridge Side Marina, getting ready to broadcast the majority of our 4, 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts live from here. As we pulled up to the marina, Gov. Jindal was addressing the media. Then Parish Presidents Young, Nungesser and Taffaro took their turns. Grand Isle mayor David Camardelle is here as well as some of the familiar faces you’ve seen on our newscasts and others: Dean Blanchard, a seafood business owner; Floyd Lasseigne a longtime Oyster fisherman; Buggy Vegas, the owner of Bridge Side Marina and others.

National media is around as well. CNN is set up next to us, FOX News Channel was here but has since packed up and left. But once the governor left, most of the crowd did too.

Fisherman are milling around, but otherwise things have gotten pretty quiet.

We’re ready to roll starting at 4 p.m. If you can’t watch us on TV, check out the broadcasts live: www.WDSU.com.
