I’m heading down to Grand Isle to cover the Tarpon Rodeo, which was cancelled last year for the first time in its long history because of the BP oil spill.
There’s a ton of excitement on the island for the big return because it’s about more than just fishing. It’s about community and resilience and a way of life. The people there are tough and they’ve been through a lot, so today will be as symbolic as it is fun.
I’ll have reports from Grand Isle on WDSU News at 4, 5 & 10.
