Matt Lauer Staying at ‘Today’

At the Today Show with WESH co-anchor Syan Rhodes and Matt Lauer in 2008.

Matt Lauer will stick around to co-host ‘Today’ on NBC for a long time.

On this morning’s show, Lauer announced the signing of his long-anticipated new contract.

Lauer has been a fixture on ‘Today’ since 1994 and the show has been number one since 1995. Often when you see people on TV, then meet them, the reality is different than the image you’ve conjured in your mind. I met Lauer in 2008 and, to my relief, the reality was that he acts the same in person as he does on TV. I’m happy he’ll be around for years to come. No offense to Ryan Seacrest…

Here’s this morning’s humorous announcement, which includes a Keith Olbermann reference.
