On March 4th, 2012, I ran in my first half marathon. The driving force behind me was the story of Tripp Roth. Tripp passed away during my training, but we carried on with the fundraising and mission to raise awareness of EB, the terrible disease that took his life one year ago today.
This picture represents one of the happiest, humbling and most fulfilling days of my life…some of “Team Tripp” gathered together after the run. These are just a few of the people who came together and helped me raise $50,000 for EB research and to help families dealing with similar challenges (my initial goal was $5,000). I ran the race, but MORE THAN 700 PEOPLE DONATED to the cause. It was amazing and, for me, life changing. There is a lot of good in this world. I’m planning to run the same half marathon again next month, again in Tripp’s honor. If you haven’t already, check out Courtney’s blog (Tripp’s mom). She’s incredible.
