Drew Brees closes in on another milestone

Sunday night against the Carolina Panthers in prime time could be when Drew Brees surpasses 50,000 career passing yards. He needs 287 yards to join the ranks of Dan Marino, John Elway, Brett Favre and Peyton Manning — the only quarterbacks in NFL history to hit the 50,000 yard plateau.

For the season, Brees has thrown for 3,794 yards and 29 touchdowns. To throw for 5,000 yards for the third consecutive season, Brees needs 1,206 passing yards over the final four games. That’s an average of 301.5 yards per game.
