On the Road: Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo

I’m heading down to Grand Isle to cover the Tarpon Rodeo, which was cancelled last year for the first time in its long history because of the BP oil spill. Grand Isle: The Beach

Grand Isle, LA  – We just borrowed a golf cart and made a quick trip over to the beach from Bridge Side Marina. It’s clean and beautiful and the water is choppy. No sign of tar balls…or any clean-up crews. The beach is empty until tonight at 7. That’s when a candlelight vigil will take […]

I’m heading back to Grand Isle this morning and will field anchor the 4, 5 & 6 p.m. newscasts from the Bridge Side Marina. Among other things, we’ll look ahead to tomorrow’s Island Aid Festival.

Video: Back to Grand Isle Beach

On Tuesday, photographer Nigel Woodberry and I went back to Grand Isle beach to see if anything had changed since our run-in last Friday with Talon Security, the beach watchdogs for BP. To our surprise, things had changed dramatically.

Thursday Coverage Notes and BP

Port Fourchon, LA — Another long day has come to a close. I’m washing some clothes and packing up tonight. I’ll head back home tomorrow night after we wrap up the 6 p.m. broadcast from Grand Isle. I have a lot of great pictures to post, but my iPhone has been internet-less the majority of […]
